Locally (on our route pages), you have the best weather overview of all ferry routes. If you bookmark the pages on FerryWeather.com and check back regularly, you have a good overview of the upcoming weather at that location. 💡 However, we are building an alert system.
Best Alternatives in 2025
- WORLD: For now, the world’s largest source of storm data is the Severe Weather Information Centre, which is made by WMO. On the right side of the website, you can click on settings. You can remove all minor/unknown weather conditions and make sure you only focus on the ‘extreme’ severity.
- EU: MeteoAlarm EU Livemap) Provides a better overview of storms and bad weather in Europe.
- WORLD: Nullschool.net: Best global map with storm and wind data.
- UK, North Sea and Atlantic Coast of Europe: The Met Office also provides a very good map with an overview of sea zones for the English coast and North Sea. A sample below:

What we are building for FerryWeather.com
We want to combine your ferry trip with weather alerts, meaning you will receive ‘warning’ e-mails when storms cross your route. The expected launch date of this alert system is Mid 2025.
